Three Juniors selected to represent Tameside

The season hasn't yet started, but Stayley have already received excellent news that three of our juniors have been selected to represent Tameside this season.

Lewis Slater has been selected for the U15s whilst Ben Fox and Joshua Healey have been picked for the U13s squad.

Those at the club who know Lewis, Josh and Ben will appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication they have for the game; this news will be an inspiration for all players.

Stayley welcomes Hamza Nadeem

Our professional for 2015 will be Hamza Nadeem, a fast medium bowler who is currently overwintering with the Islamabad Leopards.   Since his first-class debut in 2013, has claimed 61 first class wickets with an average of 21.9.  In this country Hamza played for Warmley in the Birmingham Premier League, averaging  a middling strike rate of 33.3, but bagged a quite remarkable 9 for 60 in 2010.

There is also a welcome return for some of Stayley’s favourites:  JP Lee, Oral Rankine and Craig Smith.  Peter Skeuse and Paul Barrow will be joining us from Micklehurst, and will surely add some batting flair to what is a strong bowling side.

Captain Steve Bird sums it up nicely.

“As a player, I felt that we had a better second-half to the season in 2014, and there are a lot of younger players that I would like to put forward:  The likes of Ryan, James and Rees.  They can all do a bit, so let’s give them a go.”

Congratulations Ben Fox: Thurs 3rd July 2014

Well Done to Ben Fox for getting 50 for Tameside District Under 11s in a batting performance that ensured a win against Oldham District last night, and a place for the team in the Quarter Finals.

Stayley are awarded £50,000 from Olympic Legacy fund

Stayley Cricket Club have secured £50,000 National Lottery funding from Sport England for the development of the Club.  The project, part of the Olympic Legacy Inspired Facilities fund, will deliver modern changing rooms to replace the portakabins that we have used since an arson attack destroyed our historic facilities in 2005.

The work is to coincide with extensive groundworks at the club which will see a 25% extension to the playing fields, and give us the opportunity to provide further sport and recreation facilities for our community.  If you are involved in a sport that could use our facilities please contact us via This email address is being protected from spambots.
